MANILA, PHILIPPINES—Yamaha delivers the best quality of products for every type of rider and unleashes their potential that takes them beyond their limits. This complementary relationship between man and machine is an experience that can only be described by the journey taken. For Cloyde Pilapil it was a race against all odds. First, he joined the Manila M3 (Manila-Matnog-Manila) Endurance Challenge last November 28-29 where he went up against motorcycles of higher displacements using the Sniper 150 Mxi. After 24 hours of riding and racing against stronger machines he placed 3rd with a 650cc and 1000cc ahead of him. It was a 1,200 Km trip and against difficult weather Cloyde still performed beyond expectations.

His second stint proved as a testament to his consistency while showing the full capabilities of the Yamaha FZi. On January 17-18 he competed in the amazing tour challenge-south Luzon edition and placed first after a tiring 959KM route. The performance of both the rider and product showcased efficiency and durability.

IMG_4154

Team Suzuki Pilipinas is composed of

  • April King Mascardo
  • EJ Sobretodo
  • Mario Borbon

Most of the questions from the audience centered around how the new team, which is now composed of ARRC veterans Mascardo and Borbon and rookie Sobretodo, will jell and what their respective strategies were for the series.

Davao City’s own April King Mascardo was seeded in the team because of his superb performance last year which included a podium finish in the 3rd leg of the 2015 series in Suzuka.  Mascardo expressed confidence that he can do better this year owing to less nerves and better track familiarity.

IMG_4147

When asked about the continuity of Suzuki’s commitment to developing local riders, Mr. Suzuki stressed that as long as the program exists in the international circuit, he will fight for the Philippine’s right to be represented.  The Philippines is one of only a few nations with 3 representatives.  Mr. Monch Bontogon also added that even though all the riders come from different teams and have separate rivalries in the local racing scene, they all carry the country’s colors during this event.

The riders along with their respective managers and crew were set to leave for Johor, Malaysia early the following day for the first round which begins March 31 and lasts till April 2.

Let’s wish our riders well and hope for a safe and successful race.

Team Bacchus Energy Drink-Ducati, Destined For the Win

Toti Alberto of Team Bacchus Energy Drink
Leading superbike team renews partnership with the country’s leading energy drink.

According to bestselling author and motivational speaker Denis Waitley, the secret to winning is the extra energy required to make another effort or try another approach.  This probably best epitomizes the great partnership between the Philippines’ leading energy drink Bacchus and the award-winning Team Ducati Philippines, which topped all categories in the 2015 Pirelli Philippine Superbike Championships (PSBK).

Three years after their first team-up in 2014, Bacchus Energy Drink is determined to continue its support for the sport as it renews its partnership with Access Plus, the distributor of Ducati motorcycles in the country under Toti Alberto, who is also head of the Ducati Philippines superbike racing team. This is a strategic collaboration with the aim of energizing the growing interest in motorbike races in the country.

Teamwork for the win

Collaboration between Bacchus Energy Drink and Ducati has proven its mettle with last year’s PSBK Championships, as the team made a clean sweep of all classes –- Novice, Intermediate, Expert, and Master -– culminating in the sixth and final race held last year at the Clark International Speedway.

“2015 was a good year for us,” exclaimed Toti Alberto, who was 2015 PBSK Master Champion. “The race was not just about using the best bike, but also about focus and preparation.” A veteran in the local motocross scene, he was also the Master class champion in 2014 and in the late 1990s. He is now CEO of Access Plus, the exclusive distributor of the high-performance Ducati motorcycles.

Members of his team included his two sons, TJ and Troy, who as of late have proven their mettle even at their young age. At the start of the PSBK this year at the Batangas Race Circuit, TJ Alberto wowed everyone by clocking the fastest time among all classes and beating other serious contenders in the race. His younger brother Troy came in first at the novice category and 4th overall -– not bad for a first-timer and the youngest member of Bacchus-Ducati Team.

“The support by Bacchus, not only to Ducati and us but also with the sport, has helped a lot in our win,” Toti added.

Providing the extra energy

“Bacchus Energy Drink has always believed that everyone driven with passion can become a champion as long as they get support,” explained Amen Say, president of Dong-A Pharma Philippines, Inc., the exclusive director of Bacchus Energy Drink in the country and a firm believer in collaborations.

“How can you not sponsor a family of winning riders (like the Albertos)? They are all champions [while] at the same time they are partners with Ducati, which are considered the best motorcycles in the world,” he added. “With Bacchus Energy Drink providing the extra energy, they are a force to be reckoned with because they have the right formula for winning.”

Bacchus Energy Drink recently renewed its partnership with Access Plus/Ducati Philippines, represented by both Say and Alberto. On hand to witness them seal the agreement are officers of Dong-A Pharma Philippines Inc. and Team Ducati members TJ and Toti.

For Mr. Say, the tie-up with Ducati and the Albertos has proven to be effective, with Team Bacchus Energy Drink-Ducati winning and topping their categories for the past 2 years, and on the 3rd year, it has already proven the winning streak with the Alberto siblings’ recent victories.

“Bacchus is the best energy drink in the market right now, having the highest amount of brain-boosting taurine, combined with the performance-enhancing royal jelly and ginseng. It’s a perfect partnership that’s meant to succeed,” he concluded.

Available in all major drugstores and supermarkets nationwide, Bacchus Energy Drink is exclusively distributed locally by Dong-A Pharma Phils., Inc. (DPPI). Get more updates on Bacchus Energy Drink via www.facebook.com/Bacchus.ph, email: marketing@dong-a-pharma.com or call (632) 721-6695.

Suzuka, Japan – After a euphoric day on Saturday, Team Suzuki Pilipinas ended the 5 lap Race 2 of the Suzuki Asian Challenge (SAC) on less ecstatic note but still  managed to get two Top 10 finishes. Pole Position winner April King Mascardo of Mindanao got the holeshot and led for the first two laps hotly pursued by the Indonesian team mates who seemed to have a strategy on how to keep him at bay. Mascardo eventually succomed to a contact at the end of Lap 3 while on the outside of the fast corner before the chicane and he crashed heavily into the barrier. He failed to finish and thankfully  suffered only a sprained ankle.

Earlier on Lap 1, Borbon of Visayas got also involved with another rider while holding a top 5 position. He was forced wide and dropped down to last place. He then steadily moved back up again to finish 10th.

After the exit of Mascardo, it was yesterday’s winner Eane Jay Sobretodo of Luzon who took over the fight for the lead against a big pack. He managed to stay in the top 3 despite nearly running wide a few times. He actually managed to lead fir a moment just before the last lap. Unfortunately, he was engulfed by the big pack, lost the draft list positions. He would eventually recover to 9th place.

It was a successful Round 3 for Team Suzuki Pilipinas at the Suzuki Asian Challenge (SAC) as they made history for the country at the Suzuka International Circuit in Japan. Following their success in the previous legs of the series, the team made a lot of firsts this leg which proved to the world that we Filipinos can run side by side and rise in the very competitive world of international racing.

History was made when April King Mascardo’s (#43) strong performance during qualifying landed him the pole position – a first for a Filipino in an international racing event. Pole sitter Mascardo holds the fastest course record (among the SAC riders in Suzuka) of 2:52.455 – 5.3 seconds quicker than last year’s pole. Following this is Eane Jaye Sobretodo’s (#22) top podium finish that is another first for a Filipino in the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) series. Mario Borbon, Jr. (#29) finished in 2nd place making it a 1-2 finish, one more first for the country.

In race 1, Mascardo was leading with Indonesian riders Jefri Tosema and Muhammad Sapril on his tail. The three racers went head to head during the last lap but unfortunately crashed together giving way to other riders behind them. Team Suzuki Pilipinas members’ Sobretodo and Borbon capitalized on the incident to lead the race and eventually finish on the podium.

Race 2 was more challenging as Mascardo had a crash causing him to earb a DNF. Sobretodo took over the lead but was cut through by a big pack landing him in 9th place. Borbon followed in 10th place.

In the overall standings, Team Suzuki Pilipinas all secured a position in the top 10 with Sobretodo in 4th place, Mascardo in 5th and Borbon in 7th. With the promising feat that they have been showing the country, the riders are more inspired to excel more. They will once again face the Suzuki Asian Challenge racetrack on August 5 to 7 at Sentul Indonesia for the 4th round.
