The Sunday morning air was filled with roaring engine sounds and smell of burning rubber and gasoline as the racers from all over the country show up for the much awaited finals of the Yamaha Grand Prix Season 9 held at Palawan International Circuit in the beautiful Puerto Prinsesa, Palawan.
Surrounded by a peaceful neighborhood and world-class beaches, Puerto Prinsesa played host for the action-packed Yamaha Grand Prix Season 9. The locals perched on the fences to have a glimpse of the action while the viewing deck was filled with hundreds of spectators.

Qualifying rounds were done in the morning as the racers fought for their race positions on the grid. There were two (2) new categories that took place. The first one was the “Dealers Cup” wherein different motorcycle dealers formed their racing teams to compete in the Yamaha Grand Prix 9. The Intermediate category of the Dealers Cup was dominated by John Paul Lantape of Motorace. The Expert Category was bagged by Ephraim Onahon of Rhean Marketing.

We also witnessed heart-stopping race between the ladies of Luzon, Vizayas and Mindanao plus the Wild Cards in the All Ladies Category. The race was dominated by Justine Bethany “The Tarsier” Tolentino. Her height may be deceiving as she is a small young lady. She once again proved to everyone that height does not matter in racing.

The One Make Race featuring the Sniper 150 Championship goes to Vrei Ar Suba. Then the race of all races in the YGP9 was the hard fought battle in the 150 Open Underbone Category. The action never stopped between the returning Masato “The Chairman” Fernando and John Emerson “J.E.” Inguito while McKinley Kyle “The Wonderboy” Paz comes in third. Inguito crosses the checkered flag first with Masato coming in at a close second place.

As the season comes to a close, it was Masato “The Chairman” Fernando who took home the YGP 150 Open Underbone overall championship with 188 points, followed by John Emerson Inguito with 170.5 points and Mckinley Kyle “The Wonderboy” Paz on the third spot with 131 points.
Apart from the bragging rights, trophies and cash prizes, the top winners in this YGP9 will be representing the Philippines in the international races bearing the banner of Yamaha proudly.

Definitely a lot of things and excitement to watch out for in the next Yamaha Grand Prix.
